The drivers, who are all based at Gateway Supermarket's Bridgwater depot in Somerset, pulled a six-tonne tractor from Huntworth to Knowle Hall to raise cash for the British Institute for Brain Injured Children, earning £3& for the day's work.
Since then, sponsorship money and donations from other companies has swelled the coffers to £1,343.74 — ar Heronfreight parent, the Ronson Foundation, has matched that amount penny for penny. The total cheque, which was handed over last month, came to an impressive 22,687.48.
