THE EEC COMMISSION has been warned that the eyesight test: which heavy goods drivers must take when EEC driving licences an introduced are not strict enough.
In the view of the German Opthalmic Association, accident risks will be considerably in creased if the tests are no revised.
German MEP Dieter Rogalle raising the issue with the Corn mission in a written questior asked how the tests were con ceived.
In reply, the Commission say the standards were laid down a 1975 international agreemen on minimum requirements fa the issue and validity of drivini permits.
But the Commission, clearl taken aback by the warning fror Germany, will now re-examin the standard of the tests for hg drivers.
There will now be consulte tions with experts in various EE1 countries.
