ANEW localized timetable for the Basildon and Thurrock area has been published by the Eastern National Omnibus Co. Ltd., who claim that it is one of the first to be set in the new standard specification drawn up by the joint working party on timetables of the BET, Tilling and Scottish Bus Groups. It will be supplemented in June by the full company timetable, many pages of which have already been reset in the April timetable revisions supplement. It is hoped that the system and town maps
in the new approved style will be completed in time for the September issues.
The new timetable is set out on the 24-hour clock system and is very clear to read—assuming. that is, that the reader understands the 24-hour clock. However, the new system is explained at the beginning of the timetable, with examples of how to "convert" to a.m. and p.m. time, a process which will continue to he necessary, however subconsciously, until Continental time is universally adopted in this country.
