ALL Gardner-enginecl ERE chassis, with the exception of those with a 4LK unit, are now fitted with CAV AC 524 alternators as standard. At the same time a new fully insulated wiring system has been introduced.
The wiring layout now consists of four separate sections, one for the cab (including front lights), one for the steering column, one for the offside of the chassis serving the starter only, whilst the fourth covers main components—alternator, fuel gauge, air-pressure warning switch and rear lights—this being located on the nearside of the chassis.
Requirements for fuel tankers are met with by the new standard ERF chassis wiring—it is suitable for these vehicles without further modification.
