A NEWCOMER to road haulage, Mr M. E. Jarvis, trading as Banbury Haulage Company, Laburnam Grove, Banbury, Oxon, was refused an 0 licence at Oxford last week on the grounds that operation from the proposed base would be illegal.
The application for six vehicles and 12 trailers was opposed by Cherwell District Council for whom Mr M. Neale said no planning permission had been granted allowing Mr Jarvis's dwelling-house to be used as business headquarters.
Mr Jarvis stressed that the vehicles would not be parked there but kept at the Castle Street car park in Banbury Laburnam Grove would be purely the administrative centre and if all went well he would eventually look for larger premises.
Zoning
Mr Neale said that because of the town zoning, planning permission was unlikely to be given as business premises would tend to attract more traffic and interfere with the flow on a residential estate road.
Refusing the application, for the East Midlands Licensing Authority, Mr C. M. Sheridan said it would clearly be illegal for the firm to operate from Laburnam Grove.
