• An application for the continuation of a current B licence with modification made by F. Palmer and Son (Transport) Ltd, of Rugby, was granted by the West Midland deputy LA Mr John Shuftlebotham, in Birmingham last week, after the objectors, Tidiways Ltd, of Wolston, had failed to appear at the inquiry.
For the applicant company. Mr M. J. Carless, told the deputy LA that the modification was to increase vehicle strength by adding two container handling units, one vehicle over 16 tons gvw and one replacement vehicle.
Mr J. W. White, managing director, said the vehicles would be used to carry all descriptions of dry waste to tips within 50 miles of base. and he produced letters of support from four of his firm's main customers.
When asked by Mr Shuffiebotham why an increase in vehicle strength was required, Mr White replied that it was because of the growth in container weight.
