AS forecast in COMMERCIAL MOTOR, January 21 1966, a Mercedes 0.302 coach is to be exhibited at the Commercial Motor Show. The model to be shown is a 45-seater de-luxe coach.
It has been decided that key factors for successful marketing are quick delivery and the establishment of adequate servicing and maintenance facilities throughout the country. Mercedes buses and coaches are built on the integral body-chassis unit principle and it is claimed that this enables large-scale production to be undertaken ensuring quick delivery. Measures are already under way to establish a chain of experienced bus and coach distribution points throughout the country to look after service and spare parts availability.
Altogether five basic body styles are built—a touring coach and two versions each of an inter-city and city bus.
However, a variety of specifications leads to the availability of 48 different versions of the complete vehicle, together with 24 "chassis" designs forming the basis of bodies to be built integrally by other firms.
