This week, we have government transport minister David Jamieson cutting the 'wedding cake' after officiating at the marriage of the Traffic Area Network and Vehicle Inspectorate, with Maurice Newey, chief executive of the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) looking on in the background, rather like a proud father.
