Mr. Alan Day, tours and express superintendent for Maidstone and District Motor Services Ltd., said for the past 12 years his company had operated tours and this year had run off-season tours starting from throughout Kent and parts of Sussex, including Hastings. He said that passengers sometimes had to change coaches at Sevenoaks, but had no problem of moving luggage. It was all done for them.
For Southdown Motor Services Ltd., Mr. Gerald Duckworth, traffic manager, said his company ran very cheap tours during the off-season. He added that he had the greatest number of vacant seats at a time when Hastings Coachways planned to run their tours.
