AN Albion single-decker chassis with an eight-eylindered power unit under the floor is on the drawing board, and it is hoped that a prototype will be
built next year. It is reported that Scottish Aviation, Ltd., will build a 41seater body on the chassis. Glasgow Transport Department will experiment with the vehicle.
The Albion company hopes to sell many of these vehicles overseas. The prototype bus will have a front exit and a rear entrance.
DLTFIELD-LONGFORD MERGER
AMERGER of their production interests in bodybuilding has been effected between Dutfield Motors, Ltd., and the Longford Manufacturing and Coachbuilding Co., Ltd. The products of the two organizations will be marketed by a new company, Duffield Longford Coachworks, Ltd.
Duffield Motors, Ltd., will transfer some of its coachhuilding staff to the Longford works at Neath and there will be complete amalgamation of design and production.
Mr. H. T. Duffield is chairman of the new concern and joins the board of the Longford company.
HOTELIERS AGAINST NATIONALIZATION
ARESOLUTION that the Federation shouId give all possible support to the Omnibus Passengers' Protection Association in its efforts to combat the nationalization of road passenger transport was passed at the conference of the British Federation of Hotel and Boarding House Associations, at Eastbourne.
Speakers on the resolution expressed the fear that nationalization of the coaching industry, on which many holiday-makers relied for transport, might put some members of the Federation out of business.
. TROLLEYBUS REPLACEMENT
DARLINGTON'S trolleybus services L./are to be converted to motorbus
operation. A plan to this effect was recently approved by the general purposes committee. The change-over will take place in four chases over the next few years.
