A TRANSFER of nine vehicles from B to A licence was granted on Tuesday by the South Wales Licensing Authority to C. Slade and Son, of Cardiff. Originally there were two objectors to the application—George Read (Transport) Ltd, and Richard Read (Transport) Ltd.—but when the hearing opened George Read had withdrawn and Richard Read was not in court.
Mr. Rosser John, for Slade, said the firm had been in business since 1938 and its licences all had different conditions and mileage radii. Mr. W. H. C. Slade, a partner in the firm, said that 80 per cent of the business was hauling fruit and vegetables, and with a limited number of 50-mile vehicles, the firm was experiencing difficulties.
