GROUP profit,, before tax, of the Transport Development Group for 1964 was £3,792,636, compared with £2,768,567 in 1963. A final dividend of 91 per cent gives a total of 14 per cent against a total equivalent of 10.4 per cent for 1963. Shareholders are to receive a scrip issue on a one-for-five basis.

nIESEL ENGINE versions of the
Austin and Morris 72 15-18 cwt, van range are now being fitted with a 6.714to-I rear-axle ratio as standard in place of the 5.625-to-1 unit previously standard. The lower ratio gives ,overall gearing of 11.7 m.p.h. per 1.000 r.p.m. and reduces maximum speed from 56 m.p.h. with the 5.625-to-1 ratio to 50 m.p.h.
The 5-625-to-I ratio will continue to be offered as an option on J2 diesels and remains standard on petrol-engine models and on all J2s fitted with the Borg Warner Model 35 automatic transmission.
APATHY OF C-MEN
I T was deplorable that only a relatively small proportion of C-licence holders bothered to join the Traders Road Transport Association. This was stated by Mr. G. Page, chairman of the London and Home Counties' division, at the eastern area's a.g.m. on Tuesday.
This was an unpalatable fact of life to members, he said. The TRTA did a lot of work for the benefit of a lot :2f people, many of them non-members. It had a good permanent staff, which needed to be expanded, but which was doing a remarkably good job.
