USING Pye mobile radio equipment, an Li extensive security and assistance service is to be offered to hauliers by Securicor Ltd. As well as liaising with police, vehicle operators and hospital services in the event of accidents or vehicle thefts, the new service will indicate where secure lorry parks may be found, notify operators and drivers of traffic diversions and congestion, and assist with load diversions or information about return loads.
The Securicor teams will also take my necessary action if a driver falls sick or has a vehicle breakdown, and will provide weather reports and personal emergency calls. The service—code-named "HELP "will operate round the clock and the 83 depots of Securicor will form the nucleus of the new organization.
