Training Levy for Motor Industry THE motor vehicle manufacturing industry comes within one of the four main industrial groups for which, within the next few months, the Minister of Labour is to set up Industrial Training Boards. The motor repair industry and motor trade generally are not included.
The Minister is making this move as part of the implementation of the Industrial Training Act, which received the Royal Assent last week. Under the Act, the Industrial Training Boards will be empowered to impose a levy on employers. Those who have insufficient training schemes will be the contributors under the levy scheme, as companies with approved training systems may become entitled to grants from the Boards, or a rebate on the levy.
