rrMS year's Scottish Show, the finest I ever held, was an outstanding success, said Mr. W. R. Black, president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, when he spoke at the exhibition banquet of the Scottish Motor Trade Association in Glasgow on Monday.
Referring to next year's Budget, he said: "We are all looking for concessions, and a considerable reduction in the weight of motor-vehicle taxation would have a beneficial effect through out our national economy, for transport costs affect the cost of living within the whole range of movement, whether it be goods or passenger. Not the least to benefit would be our vital export market.
"It may, at first sight, appear conflicting that I should suggest substantial remission of taxes and considerable expenditure on roads, but each in its way is a vital, necessity and one is supplemental to the Other," stated Mr. Black.
