BM TRANSPORT, who provide and maintain a fleet of over 500 ehicles for one of Europe's largest builders merchants groups, has tandardised on the Lincoln-Helios Cluicklube centralised chassis rease lubrication system.
The main aim of the UBM's fleet management policy is to operate a vehicle for at least three years, during which time an average of 60,000 miles will be covered, without replacement of any major components.
However, the size of the fleet, the high degree of usage, and the six-week interval between services preclude manual chassis lubrication, according to UBM.
With the Quicklube system, the reservoir holds around three months' supply of grease and in the event of any connected point not receiving its full metered quantity of lubricant, a red light shows on the in-cab control console.
The factors which influenced the UBM decision included the use of standard chassis grease rather than oil, and the reliability of the system during the trial period.
