I was very interested to read DouglasAinley's article (CM Feb: oary 14) on social security and wondered if you could confirm whether or not it is correct to state "three waiting days must be served again" in that part Of the article which relates to three changes which occur immediately in the Socia Security Act. I wondered if perhaps it should read "four waiting days".
J. R. LEAF, Director R. Cripps and Co Ltd Batley Yorkshire Douglas Ainley says: Since September 1980, only four or more consecutive days of incapacity for work will count ,a period of interruption of employment to qualify for Stat sickness benefit. Therefore, for this purpose and for the purpo: of "linking" periods of incapacity within the eight weeks now allowed, the first three days only are termed waiting days.
