consultants engaged by the Channel Tunnel Study Group to carry out a survey of the Straits of Dover for the Tunnel project, on behalf of the British Government and the SNCF acting for the French Government, has been delivered by the Group to the Anglo-French Commission of Surveillance set up by the two Governments to oversee the survey. This volume summarises the work and results of the survey.
Further volumes, giving the detailed scientific analysis of the geological and geophysical tests carried out, will follow.
The Commission will assess the contents and conclusions of the report in the coming weeks. Until the assessment has been completed, there will be no statement on the report, which is not to be published at present.
