SOME 58,000 members of the operating and maintenance staff of London Transport's road services benefit from a 7s. a week wage increase made retrospective to January I. It will cost £1.2m. a year. The last pay increase was in September, 1952.
In central London, the top rate for drivers is now £7 18s. 6d. and for conductors, £7 14s. 6d., although actual earnings may be nearly more.
