APPLICATION is to be made by Sunderland Transport Department for permission to change the Durham Road-Town Centre route from trams to motorbuses. It is expected that the new service will be running by the spring or early summer.
Twelve of the new buses used on the recently converted Circle—Seaburn route have Crossley 58-seat bodies weighing 21 tons. The framing of the upper saloon is in light alloy, and that of the lower in steel.
