The revised estimate was given in the Commons this week by Mr. Stephen Swingler, parliamentary secretary to the Ministry of Transport, who said it allowed for improved construction methods and additional engineering work suggested by the recent survey. Some 50 per cent

of the total cost might be found from United Kingdom sources.
