THE possibility of an experiment with remotely controlled illuminated signs which could be switched on in cases of emergency on the MI is being considered by Mr. M'arples. Announcing this, he pointed out that the large reflecting signs with the legends "Ice," "Fog," " Accident" and "Roadworks," which were now held in readiness for immediate use, had been generally effective.
He agreed with Mr. R. Gresham Cooke (Cons., Twickenham) who said that in order to avoid accidents and the shunting of cars one on top of the other it would be a help to have distant warning signs on the bridges.
