DRIVERS WHO DELIVER to Marks & Spencer stores throughout the country are voting on a revised pay offer following months of negotiations.
The two-year deal from Joint Retail Logistics, a joint venture between Exel and Tibbett & Britten, is worth 3% backdated to 1 January. It also includes an increase in some overtime payments from £7.15/1'ir to £8.84/hr.
Next year's increase will be based on the government's retail price index, with all overtime set at £8.84.
The RMT union is advising the 60 drivers to accept the offer after they defied an earlier recommendation to accept a one-year deal (CM11 September).
Drivers recruited since 1995 are said to be on the worst terms, working a basic 39-hour week for £224 plus 11 hours' obligatory overtime and £100 per week in assorted bonuses.
The result of the ballot is expected on Monday (27 October).
