• The following awards have been announced by the Chartered Institute of Transport for papers submitted during the 1972-73 session: — Triennial award of merit: J. B. Duncan, managing director, Transport Development Group Ltd for his Henry Spurrier Memorial Lecture Transport with Profit.
BET Road Passenger Transport Award: W. J. Tyson, lecturer, University of Manchester, for his paper "A Discussion of an analysis of passenger recession in local authority bus operation".
Herbert Crow Medal: H. R. Featherstone, director, Freight Transport Association for his paper "Transport 1976."
Road Transport (Passenger) Medal: J. J. Byrne, managing director, Coras Iompair Eireann for his paper "Policies for public utilities."
Graduate Medal: B. P. Boyle, section officer, New Zealand Government Railways, for his paper "A new approach to staff counselling in the transport industry".
The awards are to be presented by the retiring president Mr D. McKenna, at the inaugural meeting of the 1973-74 session of the Institute on Monday October 8 at 5.45 pm for 6.15 pm at the Commonwealth Hall, Royal Commonwealth Society 16-20 Craven Street, London WC2.
