LE low bridge accidents could occur, not less, if proposed it warning signs are fitted in lorry cabs.
le Freight Transport Association says this in response to a trtment of Transport proposal to fit warning signs in the of vehicles carrying heavy engineering plant when vehicle load are over 12ft high.
believes that drivers will be lulled into a false sense of rity and that height clearances will be altered by movement e load or by road works beneath the bridge.
stead, FTA recommends a concentrated educational proime designed to make drivers aware of the need to keep an ape for bridge clearances. Also, it proposes a series of ling signs on the approaches to known "blackspot" bridges.
