SCOTTISH Bus Group's 4,000 service buses gained a new image last week as part of a marketing exercise designed to imprint its name on the public's mind.
The Scottish fleetname and saltire (St Andrew's Cross) which first appeared on motorway coaches two years ago, has been adapted for stage service vehicles, but, unlike National Bus, the strong local colour schemes of the seven operating companies are being retained.
Each company name appears in large upper and lower case lettering alongside a smaller version of the coach fleet logo and is applied in a forward position halfway up the vehicle.
Use of the saltire dictates 'blue lettering, so the name must appear either on a white, cream, or light grey background. This will necessitate minor redesign work on some company liveries.
Announcing the new fleetnames, SBG chairman Ian Irwin said: "At a time when Scotland's importance as part of the United Kingdom is on everybody's mind, I think it is appropriate that we should remind the travelling public that SBG is very much a Scottish business."
