THE CHIEF engineer of Lancaster City Council's passenger transport department, Ronald Preston, is retiring after six years in the post and 36 years with the department.
Mr Preston joined Lancaster City Transport from the local coach firm of Thomas Ireland and Sons. In 1975 he became Lancaster area engineering, moving to present job in 1979. He retires at the end of March.
