MERCEDES-BENZ UK has opened a E5m, 1,7 6 5sq m (19,000sq ft) maintenance facility at Colindale, North London, which offers a 24-hours service to operators in the area and Hertfordshire.
A spokesman for the company told CM that there are an estimated 1,100 Mercedes vehicles in the catchment area. The depot which has been operational since December 1982 is fully computerised, employs 96 people and has a £300,000 stock holding which will rise to £600,000 this year.
The company claims a 94 per cent first picking for spares with a four-hour emergency service for non-stock parts. The workload at the Colindale depot at 403 Edgware Road is 60 per cent residential and 40 per cent passing trade.
