Algiers has been -encouraged during the past few years by means of subsidies and grants, under which scheme only tractors of French manufacture are accepted. It is believed that at the time of the preparation of a report issued by the Acting British Consul-General at Algiers; which covers part of the years 1922 and 1923, and is obtainable from the Department of Overseas Trade, there were about 600 motor tractors in use.
The'avezzge eumber of wcrking days per year for tractors in use in Algeria is about 100, and machines of under 30 h.p. are not considered sufficiently strong to tackle the very dry ground. The Fordson tractor is on sale in Algiers at an extremely low price.
