THE appeal of the British Transport Commission against the grant of an A licence to T. J. Walmsley, Ltd., Blackburn, was resolved before the Transport [Appeal] Tribunal in London last week, when the parties came to an agreement which the Tribunal approved. Earlier proceedings were reported in last week's issue.
The agreement provided for the continuation of the A licence granted for a Vehicle previously carrying a B licence, and that an additional vehicle be allowed to transport goods. to the Preston-Lame ferry under an A licence.
Mr. J. Samuel-Gibbon, for Walmsley's, said that this meant that the B.T.C.'s appeal would succeed so far as the third A-licenied vehicle wassoncerned, but this would not prejudice the company's right to make a new application to the North Western Licensing Authority in regard to this unit.
The Tribunal ruled that this vehicle be allowed to run under an A licence until March 1 to avoid operational difficulties.
