WITH a total of eight trolleybus routes now converted to motorbus operation, Belfast Corporation Transport seems likely to pause for breath before completing the changeover to buses. Delivery of the first 88 77-seat Fleetlines enabled a similar number of 68-seat trolleybuses to be withdrawn, and six routes to be switched to bus operation. The next 63 Fleetlines are likely to replace motorbuses — Belfast has no fewer than 143 wartime Daimler CWA6 chassis still in service, albeit with postwar bodies. The remaining 119 Belfast trolleybuses are all comparatively modern

vehicles, and comprise 70 Guy and 41 B.U.T. three-axle models, together witl one two-aided Sunbeam, all 68-seaters Belfast formerly operated 223 trolleys Leyland Atlantean buses may wel replace at least some of the remainitn • trolleybuses. Belfast Corporation trans port committee has approved the pur chase of three Atlantean chassis wit) dropped rear axles to facilitate the fittim of identical M.H. Coachworks bodies t( those already being fitted on the Fleet lines. Belfast already operates on Atlantean, although this has a straight through axle, and stepped gangway.
