HE Transport Tribunal on Wednesday upheld two appeals by the B.T.C. In the first, against the Western' deputy Licensing Authority's grant of two extra vehicles on A licence to S. and M. Streets Transport Ltd., of Watchet, Somerset, the Tribunal allowed only one extra vehicle, with a normal user of "general goods, mainly paper, within approximately 300-mile radius ".
Giving the Tribunal's decision, Mr. Squibb said that the firm's representative at the original hearing had said there would be an extra 60 tons a day from a nearby paper company. In fact the evidence was that there would be an
additional 60 tons a week. It appeared that the L.A. was misled.
Also allowed was the B.T.C.'s appeal against the grant of a B licence to C. V. Vickers of Stourport on Severn to carry goods for Kidderminster Manipulations and Fabrications Ltd.
For the B.T.C., Mr. J. M. Timmons said the grant enabled the applicant to take work away from B.R.S. For Mr. Vickers, Mr. G. F. Davies said a large number of parts needed checking on and off the vehicle and it would be possible to hold Mr. Vickers or his driver responsible for the load, but Mr. Squibb said the Tribunal did not feel the advantage to be derived had been made out.
