ITis reported that considerable interest has been shown in the silencer (claimed by its inventor, Mr. S. Titterton of Stockport, to reduce black smoke) which was des.:ribed in The Commercial Motor of December 20, 1963. It employs waterheating coils in the silencer chamber. Operators from whom inquiries are said to have been received include A.E.I.. Fsso and Tate and Lyle. Birmingham Corporation Transport has offered to test the silencer and Turner Asbestos has installed two on diesel vehicles used inside its works.
