AN allegation that the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Co., "as a matter of policy," objected to renewals for the purpose of " fishing " for information to use against hauliers on future occasions was made by Mr. F. B. Pears (representing an applicant for the renewal of an A licence relating to 14 vehicles) at the East Midland Traffic Court in Nottingham last week. . Mr, Pears said that he was beginning to wonder how much longer such objections by the L.M.S. would continue. The policy of the company seemed to be to make objections that really were not genuine. " It is trying to turn this court into a mild form of detective agency, and I must register a protest against these constant objections," he said.
Mr. Stirk, the Licensing Authority, said he was in sympathy and he granted the application.
