THE contract licence " switch " is still the trend, it seems. In the West Midlands, H. Appleby, of Wednesfield, ask to transfer 14 Contract A tippers to a B licence, the conditions to be "solid fuel and colliery timbers, the property of D. M. Stevenson and Co., Ltd.; or their customers, as fuel distributors, as required." The vehicles, under contract, are working for the named customer at the moment.
In this week's Metropolitan "As and Os" a very varied user is sought by F. Childs and Son, Ltd., of Hoddesdon, in Hertfordshire. They ask to add three vehicles to an existing A licence with a scope of "Mainly fruit, concrete, timber, animal feeding-stuffs, straw and engineering plant, normally within 200 miles but with occasional longer journeys."
