Ian Armstrong, area transport superintendent with the Scottish Gas Board at Dundee, is taking up an appointment as manager of Rennies, Lion and Comfort Coaches of Dunfermline on August 15.

Michael H. Waller, 46, principal assistant engineer in the Bradford City engineers' department, has been appointed assistant director of transport (traffic management and road safety) to the new West Yorkshire Metropolitan County Council. Before moving to Bradford in 1961, Mr Waller had served with the Arbroath and Dundee Councils in Scotland, and the Essex County Council.

John Moore, 35, has taken over as divisional manager based at Leicester depot for United Carriers. He moves to Leicester from Smethwick (Worcs) where for the past six months he has been divisional manager of the company's warehousing division.

Derek Allison, central works superintendent, East Kent Road Car Company, becomes assistant chief engineer at Eastern National Omnibus Co Ltd on August 13.

Howe Henry Taylor, formerly Bexhill-on-Sea branch manager for Pickfords Removals Ltd, has now taken over the Eastbourne branch; Charles Richmond moves from Winchester to Portsmouth; Peter Clements from Leamington Spa to Coventry; and John Willis, a clerk, has been promoted Deptford manager.

A. H. McIntosh, who has been with BOC at Rotherham as regional transport engineer, eastern region, has now joined Transfleet Services Ltd, Stirling, as contract services manager. Before joining BOC he was a technical assistant, Newcastle Corporation Transport.

Henry W. T. Frier, 37, traffic assistant at Southdown Motor Services Ltd, has been appointed fares and licensing officer of Hants and Dorset Motor Services Ltd with effect from October 1. R. Bailey has been appointed district superintendent (south) of East Midland Motor Services Ltd and Mansfield District Traction Co Ltd with effect from September 1. Mr Bailey, who was formerly district traffic superintendent at Midland General's Ilkeston depot, succeeds P. F. Reeson who has been appointed area manager (North Kent) for Maidstone and District Motor Services Ltd.

Brian Morgan, managing director of Enots Ltd, is retiring through ill health, but will continue as a director. From August 6 the md will be Marion K. McQuillan, at present technical director of the New Metals Division of Imperial Metal Industries (Kynoch) Ltd. Geoffrey H. Birch will be assistant managing director.

Derek E. Hall has been appointed fleet sales manager for SAB Brake Regulator Co, Darlington.

Lord Howe has been appointed a vice-chairman of the RAC. This follows the retirement of W. E. Daniel.

OBITUARIES

We record with regret the deaths of Cecil Holland Mayling and A. K. Stevenson,

Mr Mayling, 61, was general manager of the haulage firms of Toft Bros Ltd and Tomlinson Ltd, of Darley Dale, Derbyshire. Mr Stevenson, 86, was chief transport officer of the Scottish branch of the British Red Cross Society in both World Wars, In recognition of his services he was awarded the OBE.
