AN £8000 campaign has been launched to persuade West Midlands motorists to save petrol by using public transport.
The West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive is sending out 100,000 leaflets to commuters publicising its bus and rail Travelcard scheme.
5000 West Midlands motorists have already opted for Travelcard and left their cars at home, claims WMPTE.
Drawback on the horizon is the PTE application for fare rises which goes before the Traffic Commissioners this month. If this is approved the cost of the Travelcard will go up from £8.50 to £9.50 for a four-week bus card and from £11 to £12 for a four-week bus and rail card for all lines.
