IF the doors of the haulage business are to be opened wider and wider for people with no evidence of need thin the whole licensing system will be meaningless," said Mr. J. A. T. Hanlon, the Northern Licensing Authority, at Carlisle on Tuesday.
Mr. Thomas Creighton, of Haltwhistle, Northumberland, asked for a variation of his B licence to carry return loads from Scotland and to increase his carrying distance for a Northumberland firm from 75 miles to a distance as required.
