THE new £100 million I.C.I. works on Sevcrnside, near Bristol, will begin production 'early next year, said Dr. H. S. Hirst, general manager, when he opened a new stretch of road to link the port of Avonmouth with the projected Severn Bridge.
Dr. Hirst said that by the end of the present year, work will have been corn
pleted on the plant producing Ethylene Glycol and total output of this product would eventually be 35,000 tons a year. Raw materials would come by pipeline from near Southampton and there would be another pipeline carrying oil from Avonmouth, where the docks would play a vital part in the success of the enterprise,
