DICTURES used in COMMERCIAL MOTOR I last week (page 77) showed a trailer van built by Bonallack Refrigerated Vehicles Ltd., using a system of construction known as Coldsaver. This is a new system and consists of an aluminium-framed polyurethane-insulated body with pillars of expanded p.v.c.
The bodies for Tunis shown last week are panelled inside and out with Staybrite stainless steel; Bonallack also panel Coldsaver bodies in alloy, however. They are designed to operate with an internal temperature of 28°F to 30°F (0°C to —1°C) in an ambient of 120°F (49°C): on test the heat gain of the Tunis version was 84 BTU/hr./°F.
Steel meat rails with 200 hooks are fixed to the roof on these vehicles and the refrigeration unit is a Thermo King PCL 50 jietrol-operated unit.
