Mr. John Morris gave the figure in the Commons last week, and said that in 1954 the total was 25.442, and by the following year this had dropped to 17,570. In 1964 it was 15,765.
Mr. Morris pointed out that the 1964 and 1965 totals excluded additional trailers.
He noted too that in 1948 British Road Services owned 8.208 vehicles. but by the next year this had risen to 34.894. and a peak of 41.265 was reached in 1951.
