.JEW techniques for analysing and reducing A 'road accidents are being used in Bournemouth in a combined operation by the County Borough Council and the Southampton-based Ministry of Transport area road safety unit.
Since its formation three years ago the unit has been developing accident investigation techniques and Bournemouth is the first town in the south where these methods are being used. A square mile of the town was selected so that a picture in depth of every accident could be built up. Every accident involving injury that has occurred in the area in the past three years has been closely investigated.

Another M1 Section: An important new section of M1 , which provides Nottingham 'and Derby with a direct motorway link to London and the south, Opened on Wednesday. The 54--mile section, which cost about £4-km.. runs from the AS junction at Kegworth. Leicestershire, across the River Trent and its flood plain to a three-level interchange with A52 at Sancliacre, Derbyshire.
Severn Bridge Opening: Her Majesty the Queen will ceremonially open the Severn Bridge on September 8. Construction of the bridge, which carries the London-South Wales motorway (M4) across the Severn in Gloucestershire, is ahead of schedule and the opening is five months earlier than expected.
Land-Rovere for Hong Kong: The Rover Co. Ltd. has won an order for 82 Land-Rovers from the Hong Kong Government in the face of strong competition. The order, worth more than £80,000, is for 65 long-wheelbase station wagons, 10 long-wheelbase pick-ups and seven regular 88 in. units.
Simms Takeover: Simms Motor Units Ltd. has taken over the business of Woedifleld and Frampton Ltd., of Christchurch, Hams, which is now operated as a full Simms branch at 195a Barrack Road (Tel: Christchurch 2600/1/2).
New Thies: A number of subsidiaries of Mann Egerton and Co. Ltd. in East Anglia and the Midlands have adopted new trading titles, Sanderson and Holmes Ltd., of Derby. Sanderson and Holmes (Leicester) Ltd. and Littleover Garage Ltd. now trade as Mann Egerton (Midlands) Ltd. W. H. Johnson and Sons Ltd., with depots at King's Lynn, Wisbech and Hunstanton, now trade as Mann Egerton (Johnsons) Ltd. The Peterborough depot has also adopted this title,
