ikAR. HARRY BELL, of Bell and Co. (TransLVL port) Ltd., a national vice-chairman of the Road Haulage Association has intimated that he will be unable to stand for national chairman when the post falls vacant in May. He is the second member of the chairman's committee— from which candidates are usually taken—to drop out of the running for this important and arduous post. (Mr. J. A. Murly, of the Transport Development Group, indicated his intention to withdraw towards the end of last year.)
If the national council follows the precedent set in previous years and chooses its candidates from the chairman's committee, this means that there are only two men left in the running for the vacancy—Mr. P. H. R. Turner (Coast Lines Ltd.) and Mr. R. Clifford (R. Clifford Ltd.).
