BAD feeling amongst the drivers at the Stewartly depot of the London Brick Co., Ltd., is being engendered by what appears to be a somewhat autocratic ruling. Certain of tile men who had been given Whit Monday as a holiday, and would have been paid for it, were a few minutes late in arriving on the Tuesday morning; because of this, they have been informed that they will not be paid for the holiday. Many of these men travel from 5 to 20 miles from their homes to the company's depot, by foot, cycles, bus or train, but, according to our information, no explanations were asked for or accepted. We can see the justice of stopping from half an hour to an hour's pay in certain cases, but the actual "
punishment" seems to us to be excessive.
