A NEW form of service for longdistance
lorry .drivers coming into London began on Monday as a result of a joint arrangement between Brays Transport Hotel, 126-128 Liverpool Road, London, N.1, and National Car Parks, Ltd., who have recently opened a guarded vehicle park at Baynes Street, Sc. Pancras.
Lorry drivers will be accepted at the hotel only if their vehicles are parked off the streets. To assist them, the proprietor, Mr. James Jason Bray, is running a shuttle service with a 13-seater minibus between Liverpool Road and Baynes Street at half-hourly intervals every morning and evening. The bus will lead a convoy of lorries in one direction and bring back the drivers.
The Road Haulage Association, whose advice and assistance have been sought at each stage, are taking steps to make the service known as widely as possible to road operators. The joint arrangement will not only help to deal with the problem created by the overnight parking of unattended vehicles in the street, but will also play a valuable part in the association's vehicle security campaign. COACH FIRM TAKE-OVER
THE coach firm, G. Howlett and Son (Quern), Ltd., of Quorn, Leics, have taken over the coach business of L. Pole and Sons, of Leicester Road, Syston, Leics. Pole and Sons will continue to operate under their own name.
