THE recent increases in fuel tax had added £60,000 to the annual fuel tax bill of Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., and its subsidiaries, declared the chairman, Mr. R. P. Beddow, at the annual meeting of the company at Preston on Tuesday. The bill was now £621,000 per, annum.
Mr. 'Beddow said that altogether Ribble in the past year had spent £580,000 on new vehicles, including 95 large-capacity double-deckers.
"These vehicles, each with 72 to 77 seats," he said, "are enabling us to cope with the increasingly more difficult traffic peaks." .
Other new deliveries included, 35 coaches each having all-round air suspension, 28 of them operating on Ribble extended tours, and 20 new double-decker White Lady coaches.
Shortly to be delivered to their subsidiary, Scout Motor Services, were six 36-ft. 40-seat coaches, each equipped with a toilet and a refreshment servery.
