IN accordance with the terms of the 1 Maythorn Bequest, the council of The Institute of British Carriage and Automobile Manufacturers are arranging an open competition for an essay on the following subject: "Particularly in view of the possible U.K. participation in the European Common Market, how can the 'Design to Production' stages of improved designs of either (a) private cars; (b) public service vehicles, or (c) commercial vehicles be more rapidly achieved."
The prizes offered are: First, £40 and the institute's silver medal. Second, £35 and the institute's bronze medal. Third, £20 and the institute's diploma. The competition is open to all persons of British nationality engaged in the motor industry. Further details can be obtained from the secretary of the institute, 50 Pall Mall, London, S.W.1.
