AFTER two weeks of evidence before the South Wales Traffic Commissioners at Pontypridd, the chairman, Mr. R. R. Jackson, told the six major Welsh bus companies applying for fares increases: "We have no hesitation in granting the applications for an increase in single fares."
Of the consultations which took place between the companies and local authorities, Mr. Jackson said he hoped that the good relations thus established would continue and improve.
Mr. E. C. B. Hammond, for Swansea Corporation, unsuccessfully opposed the higher single fares for South Wales Transport, Ltd.. and United Welsh Services, Ltd. When implemented on Sunday they will mean an extra id. on almost all single tickets issued by those operators, The other companies involved are Red and White Services, Ltd., Western Welsh Omnibus Co., Ltd., J. James and Sons, Ltd., and Rhondda Transport, Ltd.
