IT was highly desirable that we shouk was
on the braking systems in usc in this country as soon as we possibl3 could, commented Mr. Marples, when hc told the Commons that his technica officers were considering a revision o current requirements.
He had been asked by Mr. F. F. A Burden (Cons., Gillingham) to conside the compulsory installation of doubli braking systems on all heavy lorries, am he promised that this suggestion woulc be taken into account.
A Member suggested reintroducing tin heavy goods vehicle licence as a safet: measure, but Mr. Marples said the rea point was to get these systems built int4 the vehicles when they were first mark because adaptations and modification were never so satisfactory as the incot poration of the system in the origina vehicle.
