Transport undertakings had been subsiized since the war, he stated, adding that le whole system of transport would soon hange completely. With increasing traffic congestion and spiralling costs the Corporation should act now and be prepared for the future.
Clk John Millar remarked: "Let's be realistic, Cur McGregor's proposal is just not on", while treasurer Malcolm Knox described the suggestion as "an ill-advised concept".
There were plenty of things which needed subsidies, but not the buses, CU Millar added. The proposal was defeated on a vote.
